We have been working hard behind the scenes to start facilitating opening our doors to clients on 5th July. Our teams tight working bubbles have been relaxed as more and more of us are invited for our vaccines. We are starting to move people across different sites so you may well see the return of some familiar faces. For us its like getting back together with family – we’ve not worked face to face with some colleagues for more than 12 months so it’s a real joy!
Staff safety and continued provision of veterinary care for all animals have been our priorities during this pandemic and we will do nothing to jeopardise that. We are still very aware that our close contact ways of working means we are at high risk of closure should Track and Trace become involved. So, despite wearing full PPE, until we had the majority of our staff vaccinated we had to limit our contact with the public. We know that not being able to come in with your pet was difficult and really appreciate your support with this. Your pets have been superstars without you (in the main!) and we’ve had some lovely licks and cuddles from them which has given us all immense support on the difficult days. From July 5th we are delighted to allow one client accompanying their pet into the building for their consultation, we do ask that you wear a mask and follow all instructions given by staff to aid social distancing.
The layout of our buildings including wating and consulting areas makes it difficult to implement a one way system so please follow signage & directions from staff and only attend the practice when you have an appointment or prebooked medication to collect. We need to observe maximum numbers of staff and clients in the building at all times. We still have staff working from home so by keeping our phone lines free by emailing non urgent enquiries to email@example.com it is really helpful, thank you.
Our Penyffordd branch is currently closed on Wednesdays so no collections or orders can be made that day. If urgent you can call our Shotton or Wrexham branches who can place an order for you.
We ask that you wear a face covering when attending our practices to ensure the safety of our staff.
We have set up an upgraded Daleplan system (DalePlan Delivered) that will automatically deliver all flea and worming products for a minimal additional monthly fee.
If you wish to collect your pets Daleplan flea and worming treatment from the practice, please give us 48 hrs notice and arrive during the medicine collection times above.
We are advised by the drug companies that routine boosters are safe to go overdue by up to 3 months, so we will therefore prioritise booking in pets that are over 2 months overdue their booster vaccines. We have allocated vaccine clinic slots each day at all 3 sites (except Wednesdays at Penyffordd currently) – these vaccine appointments can be booked online for your convenience.
We have restarted sending out vaccine reminders so if your pet is due a booster soon you should receive a text or email, however if you are unsure when your pet is next due please contact us via email on firstname.lastname@example.org and help keep our phone lines free for sick pets.
The RCVS has updated its guidance on “remote prescribing” and this has affected our provision of video consultations. We are now only allowed to prescribe without seeing your pet in practice in very limited circumstances where there is no other alternative, so we cannot use video consultations for repeat medication checks and minor illnesses as we did previously. We felt it was unfair to charge for video consultations in a triage only situation so we have suspended the service for now. If you are unsure if your pet needs to see a vet, please email email@example.com to book a phone consultation with one of our nurses who can advise. If RCVS rules change we will of course review video consulting – we found it to be a very useful tool (once we got over the initial IT glitches!).
