Does your dog suffer from noise phobias such as fireworks and thunder? Here at Daleside we believe that getting to the route of the problem is better than medicating your pet. Fear and anxiety of scary sounds such a fireworks can build up year upon year with subtle signs of fear often being missed. We recommend booking in to our Desensitisation Clinic where one of our registered nurses can help you perfect this technique in a controlled environment. Please see below videos for more help on your pets desensitisation journey.
Bringing your puppy or kitten home for the first time is a daunting experience for both you and your pet. At the Puppy & Kitten Health Club, your pet will receive a nose to tail assessment. Our nurses will elaborate on all areas of pet care and will answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Our veterinary staff keep up to date with all the latest developments in caring for young pets, so even if you have raised kittens and puppies before, this is a good opportunity for them to meet our staff and get used to the practice.
There can be many factors that contribute towards an overweight pet but the effects are always the same; poor health and diminished quality of life. Obesity can lead to many diseases including diabetes, heart problems and joint problems.
At Chub Club, we offer advice on the correct diet for your pet (whether it is a Great Dane or a Siamese cat!) and will discuss the benefits of regular exercise. We also stock specialist food that is formulated for weight loss and regulates appetite.
This is our specialised cat clinic for cats aged eight and over. As our old and purrfect cats mature, they can develop health issues such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and hyperthyroidism, to name but a few. Early diagnosis is key to providing the best long term treatment for your pet.
Daleside Vets are pleased to offer our nurse led OAP clinic. These consist of an hour-long consult costing only £45 (or £40 if you are one of our many Daleplan members). During the clinic, your cat will receive a full nose to tail check. We will assess their mobility, body condition score, as well as check a urine sample and monitor their blood pressure to ensure everything is still in good working order.
Like humans a lot of our older patients suffer from arthritis and joint/mobility problems. If this has been diagnosed by a vet they can refer you to our mobility clinic. One of our qualified nurses will monitor and pain score your pet on a regular basis to ensure your pet is comfortable on the treatment. They will discuss options such as mobility diet and supplements as well as treatment.
Sugarbabies offers support and advice for our diagnosed diabetics both early on and throughout your pet’s life. It includes a health assessment and monitoring urine test.
Unfortunately we are seeing an ever increasing number of diabetic pets. It is now estimated that as many as 1 in 200 pets suffer from the condition. Like us, it is strongly associated with obesity as well as age (cats and dogs over 6 years of age are at most risk). If left untreated, diabetes can be life threatening. However, once diagnosed, diabetes in cats and dogs is a manageable condition.
Common signs of diabetes include excessive thirst, frequent urination, weight loss despite ravenous apetite or lethargy. It is important to diagnose and treat this condition as early as possible to avoid long term health implications.

“Having been a customer at Daleside for many years I have always found them to be extremely professional. When our cat Belle was involved in a nasty cat fight they were able to offer an appointment the same day! Everyone is always very friendly.”
