The database holds the details of the current keeper and must be kept up to date should they sell or re-home a dog. As the current keeper, it is your responsibility to update the database of your details. This is important as anyone who has found a stray will know; we are so pleased if we can re-unite a dog with his/her people promptly! Otherwise, an incredibly stressful time trying to find your pet and phoning vets/rescue shelters/dog wardens can ensue.
If any dog is found to either not be chipped or whose details are out of date, there is a 21 day period in which to do so, however if this time frame is exceeded a £500 fine will be enforced by the relevant authorities.
At Daleside all our microchips are registered with Petlog and you should receive confirmation from Petlog within 14 days of registration. For already chipped pets, you can check their current details by logging onto the website www.petlog.org.uk enter chip number under “Look up a microchip” press “Go” and enter your Petlog ID which is on your original registration documentation. If your documents are “Somewhere safe” (!) you can contact Petlog Customer Services directly on 01296 336579 Monday-Friday 9-5, or we can provide your pets microchip number.
Petlog do offer Petlog Premium which is an upgrade option to change your details as often as you like, which could be handy if you move house a lot or change your numbers/email address.
Throughout February and March, we are offering microchipping at the discounted price of £14.99 (usually £19.99) to all pets to help you get ready for the change in legislation. Please do give us a call to book in or if you have any questions.

“Best vets in Wrexham. Always helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Friendly staff that go out of their way to not only care for your pet, but also to keep the pets carer fully informed every step of the way. They have always looked after and treated my 2 yorkies Lulu and Pebbles amazingly, they saved Lulu’s life, words can never describe how grateful I am to them. I Would recommend this veterinary practice to everyone and anyone.”
