3000 feet, 30 miles and 14 peaks update

Hi there! I’ve been busy training on the Carneddau in Snowdonia National Park since I last spoke to you all.

This was my 7th foray into the mountains training for my challenge. I started in February following a section of Offa’s Dyke from Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in the Trevor Basin to World’s End (I know, who would have thought there was an actual place!)

My 2nd walk was the north face of Tryfan, well known for its scrambling challenges. This led onto the 3rd trip up Pen-ye-Ole-Wen, Carnedd Dafydd and Carnedd Llewelyn at Easter. Elidir Fawr followed, then the rest of the Glyderau the next week-11 miles. My recent trek onto the Carneddau went a bit awry, having underestimated the rainfall the preceding week and its effect on the river we needed to cross! An hour and a half of upstream, boggy path, an unexpected encounter with a super hairy caterpillar (if anyone knows what kind he is-please let me know!) a common frog and a scurrying tick (yuk!) no real available crossing and a change of route was made. We headed off for a different mountain, 15 miles of trail and five of the 3000’s: Carnedd Llewellyn, Garnedd Ugain, Foel Fras, Foel Grach and Yr Elen. Now I’ve set foot on each of the 3000’s, and I’m ready to tackle Snowdon’s many paths on Sunday! The appointment is booked with my Physio to get my knees checked and, hopefully cleared, ready for the next big push. They’re not really enjoying the scenery or the ascents. Watch this space and keep your fingers crossed for me!

Please follow the links to SARDA and Sarah’s Any Which Way fund and sponsor me-it will really help me get up those peaks!

You can donate to any of the two charities through these links below: Search and Rescue Dogs Association (SARDA) and Sarah’s Lyme Recovery

Thanks Laura
